Parenting Style In The East and The West
When you have children, what kind of parenting style will you apply? Humans go through a series of life paths, one of which is becoming a parent. Being a parent is not an easy thing, there are many things that must be prepared so that you don't make mistakes in managing your children. Nowadays, western and eastern parenting styles are widely studied by researchers. Concerning this, it is imperative to note that there are three differences in raising children in the west and the east, namely in terms of freedom of opinion, disciplining children, and providing education.
The most visible difference between these two perspectives is in freedom of opinion. Western people tend to give children freedom of opinion, children can make their own choices but are still within the scope of parental supervision. This method aims to get children used to living independently and not depending on their parents. Unlike their eastern counterparts, western people do not dare to take risks in providing freedom. They worry that their child will make choices that are not in line with what they expected. So they always direct their children to follow their parents' plans.
In addition, there is a nice disparity in the way how they discipline their children. Western will raise their children by acting as friends to their children. So that children will be more open to their parents, they will also not make too many rules for their children. In contrast, the way eastern people discipline their children is a bit conservative, they demand a lot of things from their children, which sometimes makes them stressed.
The last obvious difference between the two perspectives is the providing education. In the West, a frequently used approach is to emphasize the development of critical and analytical skills. On the other hand, in the East, the focus is often on obedience, respecting teachers, and following established rules.
As we know, every parent has their own way of raising children. Both western and eastern parenting styles, they have the desire that their children will have a better fate than their parents. Even so, every child also carries hope of their parents, so children should realize those hope by always being the best in the eyes of their parents.
