Singapore touted to be the safest place for white-collar criminals (criminals). The reason they visit this country quite a classic, 'treatment'. So, whether Singapore will forever be a 'hospital' for corruption from Indonesia?
Singapore is a country that is quite familiar in the eyes of Indonesia. The country is known as a place for shopping, health check, invest and save the property, to the safest place to live. No exception for corruption.
There are several reasons why a lot of corrupt Indonesian origin who fled to this country. First, Singapore is much better situation than Indonesia. Places to shop a lot. Indonesian food is easy to find. Most importantly, Singapore has never questioned about where the property will be invested. So, it's safe for criminals who want to keep his treasure there.
A recent example of those who were 'treatment' in Singapore is Nunun Nurbaeti and Muhammad Nazaruddin. Both of them has not been detected until now. I say it feels appropriate law enforcement authorities in the country is quite slow. Already know Indonesia has no power to Singapore, instead letting them go just for the 'treatment'.

The Root Problem
Actually, the root problem of why criminals choose refuge in Singapore we already know. Another reason why Singapore is accommodate the corrupt because Singapore live from the investor. Singapore is a country that has no natural resources. With the investors coming from outside, causing Singapore can continue to advance as it is today.
Even so, the Singapore government does not fully justify corrupt country as a hiding place from Indonesia. Singapore also began to grip with this designation. This year, the Singapore government has ratified the UN Convention against corruption. Singapore also has long reciprocal agreements ratified the ASEAN Mutual Legal Assistance. That way they also have put the position as the country's anti against money laundering.
However, public perception of the neighboring country Indonesia is still bad. Until now they still provide a comfortable place for corruption from Indonesia. Singapore does not have to recall the solidarity of the ASEAN countries, especially Indonesia in combating corruption.
I hope, from now onwards the government of Indonesia and Singapore can work together and professionals in combating corruption. Indonesia must put the position as a country that readily and quickly in dealing with corruption cases. So, there is no impression on the community that this is the scenario of certain parties.
