Lahir di sebuah Dusun terpencil di Kab. Bone, Sulawesi-Selatan. Namanya, Dusun Masumpu, Des. Massengrengpu, Kec Lamuru. Dusun tersebut baru dialiri listrik PLN pada pertengahan tahun 1999. Muhlis Lamuru menghabiskan masa kecil di Kampung halaman dan bersekolah di MI 43 Pising (Masumpu) dan SLTP di Kecamatan sebelum hijrah ke Kota Makassar melanjutkan pendidikan menengah. Sejak 2004 hijrah ke Yogyakarta untuk melanjutkan pendidikan Tinggi di UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. Dan, tahun 2010 mencoba mengadu nasib n memulai hidup baru di Ibu Kota Jakarta.
