Form in 2019 in Depok, Contemporary Art is a band that keep innovating, the lead vocalist Dwi Cahyo said "Contemporary Art from time to time play a different genre, in the beginning we tried to play Midwest Emo genre. Our biggest influences is a few bands from the US and Canada "Modern Baseball",Â
"Mom Jeans", "Tiger Jaw" for our first song. Slowly we try to find a new tone for our 2nd song with some Dream Pop. Right now we're going more to Shoegaze genre, but not the shoegaze from the 90s but more from Shoegaze bands from the 2010s." he said.
When asked why they play the Shoegaze genre right now the vocalist said : "in the beginning we played Midwest Emo genre to be honest because the lyrics writing easy to write and the sound is easy to play, the second reason we play Shoegaze for now is because we already have the equipment to play that genre and already found the tone to play."
For you who is wondering who is the band member to this band this is what the vocalist said : " first of coure there is me as a lead vocal and rytm guitarist, the second member is Aldi as backing vocal, vocal and as a lead guitarist, then there is Fahmi as a bassist and backing vocal, and the last there is Ammar as a drummer."
When asked where is the gigs that most stuck in their head the vocalist said : " maybe in chicken split that is a collaboration show from Kolektif Bising Tenggara and Chicken Split at Fat Studio Kranggan, Bekasi we really like the crowd energy at that show." Said Dwi. The band also have a lot of achievement the vocalist said :Â
" recently we have became a brand ambassador for Levi's Indonesia brand, and the other achievement is in the early 2021 we singed with Ramunada Records who already helped with production and distribution. And this year we finished recording our EP "Glazed", other than that in 2021 our first single "Life Sucks, Goodnight" reach 60.000 streams on spotify." Dwi added.
