A Student Conducts Lectures Online With Good Ethics (kumparan.com)

A hot topic that has often been the topic of conversation for the past 1 year is COVID-19. Coronavirus pneumonia (COVID-19) is a disease caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) virus. The emergence of this disease outbreak has an impact on various fields in society, one of which is the field of education. In the field of education, to reduce the mobility of the community which is more intense in associations, the government has agreed to decide that the learning process is carried out via online or better known as online (in the network).

University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta is one of the providers of online-based lectures, Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta has an application that is used for online learning needs, the name of the application is MyKlass, but when learning online there are many student ethics that are not good. Moreover, in the online learning period like now, ethics in communicating via online by students or students to teachers or lecturers is very important. The ethics or manners in Islam that can be done when following the learning process online or via onlie include:

  • 1. Intention (pray before lectures)

All activities that we do, from waking up to going back to sleep have been regulated in religious teachings. Included in carrying out our obligations in studying. Learning is one of the obligatory acts of worship for every Muslim. This is because learning is one form of our efforts towards the Creator who created the universe, namely Allah SWT, who has given us blessings in the form of intelligence. Look at one of the hadiths of the prophet which reads Innamaa a'maalu binniyaati, which means that everything depends on the intention. For this reason, in order to get the blessings and pleasures of Allah SWT as a Muslim, the ethics we must apply is the intention to pray earnestly before lectures are started by the lecturer.

  • 2. Tawadhu' ( Silent, Listening and On Camera )

The identity of every Muslim should have an attitude of tawadhu '. Tawadhu 'towards the teacher or lecturer is an action that should not be ignored. Especially during this pandemic, tawadhu 'attitude is considered very important considering that it is a form of respect for students or students towards teachers or lecturers. Some examples of tawadhu 'attitude in participating in online learning are paying attention to teacher or lecturer explanations (silent and listening), not speaking when the teacher or lecturer is explaining, and following rules when learning via online such as mute the microphone when the teacher or lecturer is explaining and always turn on the camera (on camera). As has been explained in the word of Allah SWT in Q.S Al-A'raf verse 204 which means And when the Qur'an is recited, then listen carefully, and pay attention calmly so that you will receive mercy.

  • 3. Polite or Well Behaved

As a Muslim we are required to behave well in all our activities, not to be spared from studying. In carrying out online learning, we should apply good / polite attitudes to teachers or lecturers, especially when we are going to convey our arguments in class meet. Submission of arguments or opinions on dictatorship in online class forums should be done politely and well, namely raising the hand first, saying greetings and introducing ourselves, conveying our arguments or opinions politely and in accordance with the rules of good and correct Indonesian, and do not forget to say sorry and thank you or the opportunity to make arguments.

  • 4. On Time

Being punctual in completing our assignments or work reflects that this person really values time and acts discipline on his life. Especially when participating in online learning. The ethics that must be applied is that it is hoped that students or students will be on time both in participating in ongoing learning and in collecting assignments that have been given by the teacher or lecturer.

Hopefully with some ethics or manners in Islam it can be applied both by students and students properly so that it can create a more effective learning. Even though it is still in a condition that does not require us to come face to face in the learning process, hopefully we will always be kept enthusiastic in carrying out all our activities and responsibilities. And hopefully what we have done will get the blessing of Allah SWT.
