Being Entrepreneur, being Positively Impactful

BPS (2015) has revealed that labor force absorbed in formal sectors such as professionals, civil servant, teachers, and lecturers accounted for 1.8%, while the remaining 98.2% work in non-formal sectors which is small-medium enterprises. Why is that? It is because our people are lack of specific skills and competencies. Moreover unemployment rate has increased by 6.18% (BPS, 2015) due to fundamental economic reasons. According to the facts, we still face a constraint in opportunity distribution instead of merely income distribution. Thus, it is urgent that we have to make the opportunity, not only for us, but more importantly for others. Being entrepreneur would the best answer disregarding what we currently serve as.

Couple days ago Tanoto Foundation in cooperation with Master of Management Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Indonesia (MM-FEB UI) conducted entrepreneurship series to motivate us, young people, to improve our quality to be entrepreneur in the future. The founder of Tanoto Foundation, Sukanto Tanoto, has inspired many young people to keep improving on a daily basis. The same thing was delivered by Mr. Charles Saerang, the owner of Jamu Njonja Meneer, and Mrs. Susanti Alie, CEO of PT. Bersama Olah Boga. They said that entrepreneurship is more than just creating business entity and making profit. 

It is about soul and spirit, patience and leadership, uniqueness and innovation, persistence and commitment, and more importantly the good of everybody. Moreover, they also encouraged us to dare to speak out loud to deliver and communicate our innovative ideas and build network. There are three things that would never comeback. The first one is what great people had advised to you, the second one is the opportunity, and the last one is time. 

Entrepreneurs are those who keep thinking day by day, focus on improving what they have started, and keep committed for it. Entrepreneurship effectively comes up when somebody is in an emergency situation. It triggers someone to think innovatively and creatively to live. Thus, no matters what situation we are currently in, it is important to force ourselves to stay out from our comfort zone and start getting used to it as well as loving it. Great result can only be achieved if we love doing it. Thus, we have to always be in a positive perspective towards positive thing that we consider uncomforted to do in the beginning as it is actually the nature of challenges to be the entrepreneur.
