In what ways can you help your environment?
There are various ways to do so. People came up with many ideas to reduce global warming considerably. The ways that I wish to discuss are alternative energies, reduction of waste, recycling various items and carpooling.
There are many types of alternative energy. The first, foremost, and most common is the solar panel. Solar panels converts energy directly from the sun into electricity. There is also a new solar-powered station that has just began operating; it uses one very tall tower and five thousand mirrors (which is relatively cheap to buy). A central computer controls the mirrors so each would always be facing the sun while angling the light to the center of the highest point of the tower. This tower will heat up as sunlight directed by thousands of mirrors hit its tip, and it converts the 7000° C heat into electricity. Wind turbines is also a good source of alternative energy.
Reducing waste is also another easy matter. Try dividing your waste items into groups such as renewables, organic, and paper. Wrap the trash in trash plastic would also be a good thing. Try reusing your plastic bags again and again, refusing to use the one offered by the cashier employee.
There is also many things that you can recycle. Ceramics can be used to make decoration (even broken ones; like dishes and vases. Break them into matching pieces). Broken CDs can be used to make small items; like a tissue case, for instance. A waste plastic box, a few bottles and broken pipes can also be used as a heater (search for the project; it’s in one of those Discovery “Do at home” projects).
Carpooling is another efficient method to be used for people in the same neighborhood travelling in the same direction. Four people in one car to the same destination is far more efficient than four people using four cars. Don’t waste you fuel (and money) when you can use them in far more efficient ways.
One of the biggest environmental issue is that of lack of energy. Everywhere around the world, electricity shortages are very common. To make up for the lack of energy resources, we need to turn our focus into alternative energy. Even a single meter-wide wind turbine can power an entire house. Global warming is the worst. It churns up our planet to a desolate state; a hot place with no life on it.
We have to take care of our planet. If we don’t, then who will?
