Geo-cache is a kind of an out door treasure hunting game in which a participant use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or other navigation technique to hide and seek containers (called “Geo-caches”) anywhere around the world. The typical of cache itself is a small waterproof container containing a log book with a pen or pencil and “treasure” (usually toys or a little value of souvenirs).
Before hunting this treasure, we have to search a certain coordinate from Internet and seek the cache using the GPS with some types of Geo-cache that we may choose according to; size, difficulty and location.
This game would be fun made during the off-duty and nice weather like on Sunday where usually we love to go out with family or friends. Therefore wherever we go; to the city, forest, mountain, river, esplanade, castle, etc, we like making this game. Besides enjoying the beauty of nature, seeing something new and or new places, we are having a certain objection and challenge to find a hided containers.
After obtaining a coordinate let say, N 48o 37.888-E 008 09.773 and some short description from a hider to find the box treasure, the further step is to make a cache research; usually a Map would help much to know an area, whether we need or without vehicle to go to location. If it is the first time to visit the place or the area, it would be necessary to read a stash notes, check the picture of cache, or read other people experience in finding the cache. Some may be visible from a few meters away, while others in more trafficked areas, or may be buried under some rocks or under water. Hence it would be more fun and safe if this kind of out door activity is carried out with a team; could be a spouse, friends, or family like we always do.
GPS and other navigation system could be set up since we left home to ease us reaching the destination accurately and could save the time from avoiding taking a wrong way or misguidance.
This GPS will navigate us till end of the location where the cache hided. Soon we arrive in the location, put GPS in a good place where it has enough signal to receive data. Further more it is necessary to check time by time the coordinate whether we are still in the right track. In any way we can see from the display of GPS the distance and the direction to the treasure and in any how we would hear positive respond “beep” from GPS, which means that we are more or less on the exact location of cache, where actually the cache is somewhere around near us. However please do not be so confidence that you will find the cache easily like you expect to because it's depend on how good the people hided the cache. From our experience in finding the cache, in some cases, we were unable to find the cache even though we had arrived in the exact coordinate of the cache. No matter end of the result that we will get, but searching the cache (for sure), we will have some excited experience or sometime a little bit adventure actions such as; walking on a path of cliffs, climbing trees, digging some rocks, passing across a swing bridge over a river, or walking in night time just to find a sign which can be seen only when dark (night cache). Those things could make our 'day' different, unforgettable and fun.
I could see that Geo-Cache game is such as a secret game, just known within Geo-cache community, and in any how the community will try to protect the hided cache from the people who do not know or are not interested in with this game. Let say, when we reach the final coordinate and just to dig where the cache hided, if there are many people around, we usually, do not want to look for the treasure just to avoid (perhaps) an act we make will create curiosity of people around. People who do not know about this game, may be, will steal or destroy the cache or the worse case perhaps they will report to the police due to a suspected things.
A simple trick might be useful to avoid people attention while we are digging the treasure, such as to take some pictures, or pretend to look for a good photo object., or ask our kids to search the cache. My little son, so far, is good enough to sniff where the cache hided, he can find and bring it to his daddy to open and make log-in.
Don't ask us how we feel when we can find the treasure. After the time consumed, after the risk we passed, after the distance we took, and after success in solving the complicated code, of course, for the Geo-cache fans, the answer is great satisfaction or more than that, it is such a 'challenge' to bring us to the next adventure in finding the other treasure.
