79th Anniversary of Pengayoman Day
Exactly on Monday, August 19, 2024, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenkumham RI) has reached the age of 79 since its establishment on the same date in 1945 under the former name of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Indonesia. The age of the Ministry, which is the same as the age of independence of the Republic of Indonesia, is a manifestation that this Ministry is needed in guarding the interests of the state in the field of justice to uphold justice and law for the establishment of the sovereignty of the country that had just become independent in 1945. Since its establishment, the Ministry has been known as the "Pengayoman" corps.
The dynamics of a government organization that is under and fully responsible to the President of the Republic of Indonesia are of course unavoidable, changing names have been experienced such as the Department of Law and Legislation, Department of Justice and Human Rights, Department of Law and Human Rights, until finally becoming Kemenkumham RI. Likewise, changes in the nomenclature of the Ministry's policy implementation work units are commonplace where the government bureaucracy must continue to develop in supporting statutory provisions and public service policies that support national interests.
One of the nomenclature changes in question is the unification of two official higher education work units within the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia, namely the Immigration Polytechnic (Poltekim) and the Correctional Science Polytechnic (Poltekip) whose launching was held on August 8, 2024 at the Prof.Dr.Muladi Auditorium, SH Tangerang campus. The branding name of the unified campus is Politeknik Pengayoman Indonesia (POLTEKPIN) which is in line with the Ministry's branding, namely "Pengayoman". POLTEKPIN will then continue the work duties and all authority in the management of higher education that had previously been carried out by Poltekip and Poltekim.
Poltekip educates prospective cadres of employees and leaders in the Correctional ranks who will serve in all Correctional work units such as Correctional Institutions (Lapas), State Detention Centers (Rutan), Correctional Centers (Bapas), State Confiscated Objects and Confiscated Goods Storage Houses (Rupbasan), Special Development Institutions for Children (LPKA) and Temporary Child Placement Institutions (LPAS). Meanwhile, Poltekim educates prospective cadres of employees and leaders in the ranks of Immigration who will serve in all Immigration work units such as the Immigration Office (Kanim) and Immigration Detention Center (Rudenim).
With the joint celebration of the "Pengayoman" day and the launching of POLTEKPIN in August 2024, the existence of POLTEKPIN is a tangible manifestation of strengthening the Ministry of Law and Human Rights RI's higher education. Strengthening occurs because two major affairs, namely Corrections and Immigration, are vital core business for the Ministry, as a support for the implementation of government functions and responsibilities in the field of Law and Human Rights, and the preparation of its leader cadres is carried out by POLTEKPIN.
