Silent Cries of Our Home*
By Leni Marlina**
In silent weeps, the earth bemoans her fate,
Her skies once blue now choke on smoky gray,
The rivers gasp beneath a toxic weight,
Their whispers lost, the fish have gone away.
Her land, adorned in green, now dressed in grime,
Once fertile soil now poisoned, cold and bare,
The flowers weep in petals, bells that chime,
Their scent replaced by plastic's cruel glare.
The air she breathes is laced with heavy sighs,
A symphony of engines, harsh and loud,
The clouds, like tears, streak through the darkened skies,
Their weeping drowns beneath a noisy shroud.
Yet still she holds our weight, her heart endures,
In hope we mend her wounds and ease her cries,
For she, our home, with love so strong and pure,
Awaits the day we cleanse her tear-stained eyes.
