Indonesia Fashion Week (IFW) is one of the biggest fashion show in Indonesia. The event was organized by the Indonesian Fashion Designer Entrepreneurs Association, which examines and promotes Indonesian culture in fashion. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government also supports this event.
Two years ago and twice, IFW was held virtually due to pandemic that strucks in Indonesia. So, the last offline show was held in 2019 with the theme "Cultural Values". And then this year, IFW finally held an offline show or Indonesia Fashion Week 2022 with the theme "Treasure with Magnificent Borneo". Many people in the fashion industry and those interested in fashion mode have been awaiting for this moment.
IFW 2022 was held for 5 days starting from 13-17th April 2022, located at Jakarta Convention Center (JCC). This fashion week presents more than 100 Indonesian designers who also present their best works. The event is a part of Jakarta tourism agenda, called Enjoy Jakarta.
This fashion week was held, strictly follows Covid-19 protocols. All the audiences wear masks except for the models. IFW 2022 was opened with a parade of 40 designers with a collection of feminine designs combining West and East Borneo ethnicities.
I still can't believe I was chosen as a model for IFW 2022. I'm both happy and grateful since being able to runaway in the biggest fashion show has always been a dream of mine. "I didn't expect to be a part of IFW 2022," said Sisi Salsabil, one of the IFW 2022 models, Saturday (11/6/2022).
She went on to say that being a model isn't easy, and to do a runaway isn't either. Models must change clothes as fast as possible during a runaway or fashion show. "It is a little difficult at backstage, because we have to change clothes without chit-chatting, and we have to prepare and get ready for the next runaway."
IFW 2022 is not only about fashion show or model catwalk, but there also exhibition of many Indonesia's UMKM, like clothes and accessories. IFW 2022 this time is expected to bring a new spirit to invite UMKM players to rise together after almost 3 years of being in limitations and adversity due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
