Globalization has had a major influence on changes in social interactions, culture and habits of Indonesian society, especially among the younger generation who are more interested in studying foreign cultures than their own local culture. Therefore, awareness of the importance of traditional culture is very important to maintain its sustainability. This research uses a literature study method with data collection techniques through scientific articles, books and other relevant references. The research results show that people need to be more aware of the importance of preserving traditional culture. The younger generation has a crucial role in this matter, which can be done by increasing cultural competence, participating in cultural activities, maintaining politeness in relationships, and reintroducing local culture through education, especially at the elementary school level.
