Birds as Pets and Friends

Maintaining birds is a hobby of most people, especially men. Raising birds is also a symbol of masculinity in most men, especially the Javanese. Birds become a tool to show that someone is "the real man", therefore Javanese men usually keep more than one bird in their house.
