This amphibian is native to the Caribbean islands of Dominica and Montserrat. It is one of the largest frog species in the world, earning its name due to its substantial size and habitat preference in mountainous regions. It is named for its large body size resembles a chicken and lives in mountainous areas. This animal also has great leaping ability, reaching heights of up to six feet in a single leap. However, it is an endangered species. Their population declined by at least 80% from 1995 to 2004, mainly due to habitat loss and the deadly chytrid fungus. Conservation efforts are underway to protect this magnificent species, as it plays a vital role in maintaining ecological balance.
