As a 23-year-old student from Papua New Guinea (PNG), pursuing International Relations (IR) at UNIMUDA Sorong has been a rewarding and transformative journey. Coming from a small island nation that often feels far from the centres of global power, I was drawn to IR because I wanted to understand how the world works---how countries interact, how international decisions affect us, and how PNG fits into the global system. Now that I am actively studying IR, I can confidently say that this field has opened my eyes to the complex web of connections, challenges, and opportunities that shape our modern world.
