The Rise of The South Korean Entertaiment Industry

Korean Wave is very identic with the world of entertainment such as music, drama, and variety shows which are packaged in an attractive way.  Pop music from South Korea, which is often called K-Pop, is one of the products that are most in demand by millennials, which is the biggest factor in the rise of the South Korean entertainment industry.

Korean Pop (K-Pop) music is a pop music genre that was born around the 1930s, but because at that time South Korea was still in the Japanese colonial period, K-Pop music did not develop too much.  There are two main elements that cannot be separated from K-Pop culture, namely, music and fashion and currently Korean make-up looks are part of K-Pop culture.

Korean Pop is divided into various types of musical genres including hip hop, rhythm, blues (R&B).  In addition to K-Pop to increase the popularity of South Korean culture in the eyes of the international community, they also created boybands and girlbands.  The first boyband was in 1992 and the first girlband was in 1997. Until now, boybands and girlbands from South Korea still exist and continue to experience additions every year.  Boyband and girlband with a variety of music and combined with dance choreography and attractive costumes.

The development of increasingly advanced and rapid information technology has become one of the factors causing the South Korean entertainment industry to be known to the world and this has made the Korean entertainment industry increase.  In addition, the spread of technological developments has made it easier for information about the Korean industry to spread across social media platforms.
