- Professor of the Faculty of Forestry of IPB (Bogor Agricultural University), Yanto Santosa, stated that palm oil is not the cause of deforestation in Indonesia. It is because palm oil plantations in Indonesia are not derived from forest area. "I have to emphasize that palm oil is not the cause of deforestation in Indonesia. Thus, the voting result of the members of the European Parliament which states that palm oil is the cause of deforestation is not true," said Yanto Santosa yesterday.
