Access to Education in Remote Areas of Indonesia

Education is a right for everyone, but many students in remote areas of Indonesia face serious challenges. For example, in Lumajang, East Java, students must cross rivers with damaged bridges after Semeru's lahar floods. In South Sulawesi, students use makeshift rafts to cross rivers due to destroyed roads.

These difficulties lower attendance and discourage students from going to school, especially with unsafe travel conditions. Uneven infrastructure between rural and urban areas widens educational gaps and increases dropout risks.

Solutions to Improve Education Access

1.Build better infrastructure (roads, bridges).
2.Create mobile or temporary schools for affected areas.
3.Provide safe transportation like boats for students.
4.Work with NGOs and private sectors to fix facilities.
5.Use online learning until infrastructure improves.

Immediate action is needed so that every child can access safe and quality education. Collaboration between the government and society is essential for fairer education across the country.
