Agama tidak bisa membenarkan kekerasan

Dalam sebuah surat yang dikirim kepada Uskup Agung New York Mgr Timothy Dolan, ketua Konferensi Waligereja Amerika Serikat, beberapa menit lalu untuk memperingati peristiwa 11 September 2001, Paus Benediktus XVI mengatakan:

"The tragedy of that day is compounded by the perpetrators’ claim to be acting in God’s name. Once again, it must be unequivocally stated that no circumstances can ever justify acts of terrorism.
