Mrs. Putri is an Indonesian teacher who was once also my homeroom teacher. She always sounds passionate about her Indonesian literature knowledge. When she was teaching us the lesson, she made Indonesian literature seem so easy to understand. She’s more than a teacher, she’s the person with endless inspiration. When I was 15 years old, I found myself lost in the path ahead, not knowing which direction I should take and what dreams to chase. But every morning, she came to class with the sparkle in her eyes together with a smile that enlightened everybody in the class.
She always makes sure we start the day with a positive and motivated mindset. Always radiates positive energy to her students, and I’ve never seen her in a low mood. Furthermore, I began to find my missing puzzle piece. In every chance she got. She shares her life lessons for us, and one of the memorable ones was the educational journey she took and the achievements she got.
Once she told us to literate as much as possible. Brought her motivation up to the surface, she’s come up with the idea of “pojok baca,” which is a designated area in the corner of our classroom for the students to invest our time with reading. It’s such a comfy area where we can read a book with a clear mind. Despite the knowledge we can receive from reading, we can also share our reading book with the rest of the students. We bought a bookshelf and a carpet from our collective money, it was worth more than enough. We read a book every day in school, since her idea brought us to a productive activity. She inspires us to read a lot because reading is knowledge.
Besides talking about educational motivation, she also often guided us to become better Muslims. Make sure we know if we make a mistake and let us learn from it. As students, we learn a lot. Her dedication was like a torch to lighten up the dark cave. I impressed and mesmerized by her dedication to making us keep motivated even when we’re still 15 years old, she’s inspired us to trust in God. Chase the dreams we desire and make them happen with the smallest action that will lead us to them.
Four years passed too fast, and I still remember clearly how her existence in my life brought so much innovation, information, and motivation for me. One year with Mrs. Putri was an incredible chapter in my life. I still thanked her at least once a year on Teacher’s Day to appreciate her dedication for us.
