Scholastic philosophy is a philosophy that grew in the Middle Ages. And medieval western philosophy (476-1492) itself is often said to be "the dark century" or "the dark ages". This is because first, the Middle Ages was a time of ignorance and darkness, which had to be passed quickly to arrive at the Renaissance, namely the time of light and knowledge. Second, scholastic philosophy is taught and written using Latin which is not high, complains using syllogism and empty debates, and only talks about religious matters.Â
