Local Responses to Rohingya Arrival in Aceh Stir Controversy

The arrival of the Rohingya to Aceh received various responses from local residents. There were pros and cons that became the response of many Indonesians. The community rejected the arrival of hundreds of Rohingya refugees for several reasons. First, they thought that their arrival was a threat. Some associate it with the beginning of the conflict between Palestine and Israel. Others think that the attitude of the Rohingya refugees is getting worse. There are reports that some complained about too little food, some people even threw away food aid from Acehnese and there were reports of harassment of Acehnese women by Rohingya people. However, the people who received the food aid thought that this was a form of humanity. As fellow humans, we must care and help each other. They assume that the cases that occur are fake news. This has led to negative opinions towards the Rohingya.  In conclusion, there are different opinions on the arrival of Rohingya refugees in Indonesia.
