Pantone has spoken: It's out with the orchid purple, and in with the marsala. Named for the decadent wine, Pantone's 2015 Color of the Year is a rich, robust color that elicits a refined-yet-earthy mood. And unlike last year's punchy purple hue, the earthy shade's got an unmistakably hearty attitude. "Much like the fortified wine that gives marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal, while it's grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness," Leatrice Eiseman, Pantone Color Institute's executive director, said via press release. "This hearty, yet stylish tone is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors."
