Jordan Henderson: The Next Ugly Duckling

Did we ever know about Jordan Henderson years ago? I guess we never know who is Jordan Henderson until 2009-2010 EPL season, back when he won Sunderland Young Player of the Year award for that season. But still, nobody knew who was this lad.

Being a month-loanee for the Coventry City in early 2009 season and making good impact for the side had made Coventry to extend his loan spell until the end of season. Because of fractured foot, he went back to his homeland, Sunderland FC. He shone when he back to the home-side, in which he's give a five years contract. Not to mention, his manager Steve Bruce braced him as a talented young footballer. Once he said about Henderson was "the best young British footballer there is". It was a momentum for Henderson to shine.

In 2011, Liverpool FC announced to sign Jordan Henderson in the reign of Roy Hodgson, along with Charlie Adam, Doni, and Stewart Downing. All fours were tremendous to be remembered. Absolutely, the Kopites had their long wishlist with these summer signings. Unfortunately, the four new-signings were dropping down, instead of making a jaw-dropping for the fans. Many of Liverpudlians were inflamed by those poor performances, not to mention for the England U-21 skipper. All in all, 2011-2012 season was not a season for Liverpool Football Club to be remembered in the new millennium.

Back where Brendan Rodgers started this 2013-2014 season beautifully, Hendo played so well from the very start. His natural ability on right flank has made Liverpool fans have to thank to him. Luckily, the other LFC diamond, Raheem Sterling was below his par. This time Hendo showed his shine through his well-played attack. Much were contributing to assist the SAS lethal duo. His move and interchanging-role play with the Brazillian wizard, Philippe Coutinho proved that Liverpool becomes one of EPL team that the other should worry about. Liverpool is back on track.

Not to forget when he had to play down as a right full-back, when his former club, Sunderland awayed to Anfield. He played that role in very good play.

Still many of Liverpudlians are unconvincing with the lad. One article written in Sulia interviewed Mark Lawrenson, one of Liverpool legend, stated that Jordan Henderson gave nothing for Liverpool FC. Even when Hendo played well in last 2 matches before away to London to see Tottenham Hotspur. Mr. Lawrenson still inconvinced with Henderson.

This condition reminds me when we all booed Lucas Leiva back in years ago. We all do blamed Benitez for his move in transfer window. Lucas was clumsy at that time. I do remember at that time, when we all yelled when Lucas capped the ball and, clumsily, got much wrong passing.

But last match against Spurs in their White Hart Lane, we were watching the capabilities of what Steve Bruce ever said about him: "(The ugly duckling is) the best young British footballer there is.." Now the ugly duckling has transformed into a beautiful swan. Jordan Henderson: Liverpool Number Fourteen.
