Ini Pidato Rachel Corrie Ketika Masih Kelas 5 !

Masih ingat Rachel Corrie yang tewas mengenaskan dilindas oleh Buldozer Tentara Israel yang pura-pura tidak melihatnya ? SIlahkan baca kesaksian tentang peristiwa terlindasnya Rachel Corrie di tulisan saya sebelumnya. Saat itu dia baru berusia 23 tahun ! Bayangkan apa yang sudah dibuat oleh remaja kita diusia seperti itu terhadap masyarakat disekelilingnya ? Empati mungkin hal besar dan strategis yang tidak didapat dari anak Indonesia dari sistem pendidikan di negeri ini hehehe.. Didalam sekolah 'dihajar' dengan hard knowledge, bahkan, sepengetahuan saya, pendidikan agamanya dari SD sampai SMA masih didominasi cara melakukan ritual. Lalu, di rumah 'disikat' game, video, infotainment dan sinetron. Bagaimana negeri ini akan memiliki tunas bangsa yang memiliki empati ? Nah, saya menemukan video 'pidato' Rachel Corrie' saat masih di kelas 5. Ini isinya:

We've got to understand that they are us, we are them My dream is to stop hunger by the year 2000 My dream is to get the poor are change My dream is to save 40.000 people who died each day My dream can and will come true if we are looking tothe future and see the light that shines there
