Ngabang (July 20, 2022) Most of the weather in the West Kalimantan region today is sunny cloudy, with an average temperature of 25-35 degrees Celsius, and humidity is estimated at 60 – 100 %. This is due to the dry season that has hit most regions in Indonesia. In particular, in the city of Landak, the scorching heat of the sun is now starting to feel very strong, from the morning around 10:00 and above until 15:00. This condition makes some residents who are active outside complain of sultry and overheating.

As is known, West Kalimantan is one of the areas in Indonesia that is crossed by the Equator, this line makes the area it crosses always get sunlight throughout the year, and makes the seasons in Indonesia only the dry season and the rainy season.

"In this case, the air temperature is starting to get a little hotter and rain has also started to be rare, well because it has entered the dry season. Moreover, we are surrounded by oil palm plantations here, even in our own homes, it is also hot. So, there is a difference in the heat temperature, it feels stronger, especially when the rain falls only in the form of drizzle and the intensity is also not too strong." Complained Jenny, one of the students at Landak.

According to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) The recent hot weather is affected by the dry season which will soon reach its peak in August 2022.

Therefore, Landak residents  are urged to continue to be aware of health threats that can interfere with daily activities. The weather in the dry season, which is getting hotter, makes it sultry, and the air feels dry, it can be possible for us to get sick if the immune system is not in good condition. Such as ISPA (Upper Respiratory Tract Infection), dehydration, dysentery typhus, diarrhea and even death.

"These hot weather conditions make me sultry and get tired quickly, if I don't drink a lot of water, maybe I can get dehydrated."  vent Enggang about the recent weather changes.

This dry condition also increases the risk of forest fires, because usually in this season many residents use it to open up new land, which can result in haze disasters like in previous years. This should be the full concern of all parties, both the government, security, and Landak residents to anticipate this so that it does not happen.

Due to the decreased rainfall and hot weather, it can be a threat to farmers where their crops have the potential to be damaged due to lack of water and the soil dries out and cracks. This condition has the potential to cause crop failure which also affects economic activity, where food prices soar in the market.

This hot weather is not only hitting Indonesia, even in other countries. As is the case in Europe and other countries where extreme heat waves have caused hundreds to thousands of deaths, wildfires and cases of asphalt and melting roof tiles in China.

"This hot weather really disturbs me in my activities, if I go out of the house I have to wear sunscreen so that my skin does not burn." Said Inka, one of the Landak residents who complained about the weather change.
