An advertising agency is a business that offers advertising services to clients in order to promote their products and expand their markets. A diverse range of individuals with various levels of creativity and understanding work in advertising agencies. They must be capable of being innovative and must be able to keep up with the most recent trends. To meet the needs of their clients, experts that work for an advertising agency will combine their ideas. For many people, working in an advertising agency is also the fulfillment of a lifelong goal because, in contrast to other types of employment, it offers a very flexible work environment.
Working in an advertising agency offers a very high level of flexibility when compared to jobs at start-ups or in offices. For instance, in terms of attire. As employees of an advertising agency, we are not obligated to wear business attire every day but rather are allowed to do so. In an advertising agency, wearing t-shirts and shorts is also acceptable attire. But it's coming; as more and more people get drawn into the current, accelerating globalization, they are beginning to become too influenced by westernization in terms of the clothing they wear.
We find it to be really cool to wear casual clothing to work, and it also offers its own level of comfort. On the other hand, we need to be careful not to let the current of globalization sweep us away. The nation in which we reside, Indonesia, likewise has its own tradition of dress. Many people in Indonesia itself, such as parents, are not receptive to modern western culture or westernization. Due to globalization, many parents are still unwilling to embrace western culture because they still believe that it has a negative impact on our nation. They frequently believe that we must dress in closed-to-the-body clothing rather than the open attire prevalent in western civilization.
However, many young people have come to understand over time that we need not let globalization overtake us in order to maintain the Indonesian culture that we currently have. These days, a lot of young people dare to combine their clothing with Indonesian batik. A lot of young people are aware that Indonesian fabrics or batik have their own charm or uniqueness that other countries do not have, as is presently trending on social media with the hashtag #berkainbersama. This, in my opinion, is a positive step or movement to prevent the erasure of Indonesian culture by westernization culture as a result of globalization.
The culture that Indonesia possesses up to this point, like batik, must be preserved by us, the younger generation. Because we dare to stand out among many people, wearing batik or other traditional Indonesian attire to work is not a problem and may even attract attention. Daring to be unique can also be interpreted as an implicit invitation to many people to join us in conserving our current culture and preventing it from being swept away by the currents of globalization.
Knowing how to dress and introduce yourself, for instance, is especially important during initial interactions, when making a positive impression is critical to continued good relations. (Samovar, 2017 ; p.344)
