the concept of rich and poor is very concerning, nowadays this concept is very visible in the daily life of Indonesian people. not only in society but also in the realm of education, especially among universities where the social gap regarding the concept of rich and poor is very dense. and Poverty have become the phenomenal problem along with the history of Indonesia as a nation. The number of poverty in 2009 is estimated to be 41,1 billion people (21,92%). In narrow sense, poverty is known as condition of having not enough money and stuffs to ensure the continuing of life. In broader sense, poverty is a multifaces and multidimentional phenomenon. Furthermore, it has variation of its own manifestation and it has limited society's rights. The main pillars of to overcome poverty are pro the poor fund, good governance and social development, and process of empowerment on micro economy as pilar of development.
why there is poverty? (hasamah, 2018)The causes of poverty are also many and very diverse,but there are 3 things, namely natural poverty which is caused by person's natural conditions such as old age nad physical disabilities which prevent that person from working to meet their daily needs, the second is cultural poverty, namely poverty caused by low human resources because of their daily habits such as laziness, gambling, dependence and drugs, and finally structural poverty caused by system error commited by the state by its in inhabitats such as natural disaster assistance that does not reach victim, does not reach the information to the poor and unequal education
        This concept of rich and poor has existed for a long time and is very visible in our society . and this concept exists because of many factors but maybe the factor that is very important is from an economic perspective, the economy has a big influence on this concept, the economy of a state, if a country cannot regulate their economy properly it will make a lot of citizens poor. That makes many people unemployed, and from that also emerged a very clear social gap regarding the concept of rich and poor.
        The concept of rich and poor has resulted in the emergence of social inequallity. And even today this social gap is still thick. there are several examples that we can see in real terms such as the city of Jakarta which is divided into 2 parts, namely the slums and the elite, a very visible example of how thick the social inequality is in our society. Not only that, there are also quite visible examples in the realm of education, from elementary school to university. I have seen incidents of social inequality that occur, such as school equipment for elementary school children, when the rich have equipment that is always changing and new, while the poor only have makeshift equipment and don't always change. .
        Another cause that had wanted to happen was also about the government policy that wants to implement the use of regional traditional clothing in the education system, in my opinion, this will cause structural poverty to occur, because not all children or their parents can afford to buy traditional clothing equipment, and when not all children wear traditional clothes it makes The social gap between the rich and the poor has widened. The concept of rich and poor can also be seen during lectures, it seems even clearer and more pronounced.
        The concept of rich and poor that occurs on campus is the cause one of which is a person's ability to go to college. many children do not continue their education to the university level because of financial constraints, but there are also those who continue because they receive assistance from the government or the economy, which is only enough to pay money during college. and that's why the concept of social inequality between the rich and the poor also appears from the clothes worn when studying, equipment such as laptops, cellphones, and other electronic devices which are supports during the study period.
        From all the things that happened it explain that social inequllity exist and the impact is very felt for a group of people. The main factor is the economy, economy that is not managed properly will make a person poor and social inequality is a big problem in society.
