The issues on Indonesia youth generation has been recognized and discussed from a long time ago. This issues concerned about the lack of sensitivity from Indonesia’s youngsters. We know that Indonesia consists of various kinds of tribes, race, ethnicity and we know that Indonesia has its own culture. Indonesia’s well know country philosophy is Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, it means “Unity in Diversity”. It is recognized as Indonesia official philosophy. But until now, the fact that Indonesian youngsters is tend to behave apathetic about their national culture is a concern for us.
They are lack of experience in exploration and knowing their own national culture, it’s like they have no curiosity about their own national culture. The sad news is. Indonesian youngster didn’t give a remarkable effort to conserve the culture that comes from their own origin. They tend to explore the culture of each national region only if it gives them benefit such as money, popularity, a wealthier life, rather than promoting and conserving the culture itself for a good deed. What they do, tt’s some kind of just a cultural exploitation.
Nowadays, Indonesia needs their youngsters to know about their own national and local culture well, in order to anticipate the effect that comes from globalization and westernization. We know that the effect of globalization and westernization will penetrate into all corners of so much country in the universe. Disconnecting the root of traditional culture and erasing respect to many Indonesian youngsters.
We, as Indonesian youngsters needs to do an action, an action that were real, well-planned and well-managed to conserve our national cultural heritage. We, as the Indonesian youngsters should always build an important role in our nation, and looking for more potential resources that comes within ourselves in order to preserve our own cultural values, tradition, folkways and transform it into some integrative forces for our local culture to build it, and conserve it, in order to strengthen our national identity.
The cultural diversity that has become local knowledge that have been crossed the whole country, yet it still needs to be disseminated to be introduced into all majorities of the country. This is necessary in order to make sure the changes of diversity that has characterized by Indonesia can strengthen up the national unity.
In the national constellation, West Java is not only known as the Tatar Sunda Subur Makmur Loh Jinawi, but also an area that rich with culture and attractions, ranging from shopping Centre, natural beauty, historical tours, culinary tours. All of this attraction is happening due to the developments of social and cultural activities that include the activity of higher education, research and development that comes from Sunda, Betawi and Cirebon.
In addition, the tropical climate and the topography of an area consisting of mountains and coastal areas in West Java are also known to have a distinctive local cultural wisdom. We’re known for our local resident that always shows a friendly trait and a nice act to the guests, foreigner or tourists during their visitation to West Java, which in Sundanese called "Ka Hade Someah Semah".
Therefore, West Java became one of the main destination for tourism in Indonesia, including Bandung city, mostly known as "Paris Van Java". The Indonesian youngsters has a great commitment and synergy and be able to contribute significantly to the economic growth of the region, and even provide a multiplier effect for the progress of other sectors, such as construction, tourism and cultural sectors, including employing their self to the country.
Thus, it is no exaggeration, if the tourism and cultural sector is placed as one of the mainstream factor that should be well-managed, and well-maintained. Then we should empower it optimally as much as possible, in order to provide the whole organization a maximum benefit to the community within an ongoing basis.
There's always some arguments, why it is become a responsibility for Indonesian youngsters? This is because the youth generation still have a lot of energy, they are fully-spirited to make a change in their life. For example, me as an Indonesian youngster, have a lot of new ideas to develop and express it to the communities. All of this good and fresh idea could help to improve some aspects in order to support the developments of country and strengthen the ability to compete in this modern time and globalized trend.
We are living in the middle of different social community, and in order to make things come true, we need to cooperate with each other’s. For example, tighten up the relationship among the country, and discussing the changes that could increase our national mentality qualities. From the perspective of Cultural Anthropologist, humans will cooperate in doing something when they reach a consensus, and they agreeing that consensus.
