"The Impact of Parental Role Deficiency in              Shaping Adolescent Character"

Character education during adolescence greatly depends on parents as the primary educators at home. At this stage, adolescents require firm guidance and clear direction to help them build good character. The lack of active parental involvement can significantly affect the personal development of adolescents.

A lack of attention and supervision from parents makes adolescents vulnerable to losing their moral compass, struggling to handle pressure, and failing to manage social conflicts effectively. Parents play a crucial role in instilling moral values, building self-confidence, and developing their child's social skills in a healthy and balanced manner.

Unfortunately, not all adolescents receive adequate support from their parents. A lack of affection, open communication, and parental involvement often negatively impacts their character development. Without proper supervision, adolescents become more susceptible to negative influences, such as unhealthy peer relationships or the harmful effects of social media. Additionally, the absence of parental guidance makes adolescents more easily influenced by negative environments, such as promiscuity, drug abuse, or irresponsible behavior. Adolescents who lack attention often seek recognition outside the home, which can bring adverse consequences. This is further exacerbated by the widespread use of social media, which, if left unchecked, can push them toward consumerist behavior, bullying, or self-image manipulation that damages their self-esteem.

However, parents do not only function as supervisors but also as role models who instill moral values such as discipline, empathy, and responsibility. By fostering good communication and consistently offering affection, parents can set a positive example for their children. This role modeling helps adolescents build a strong character and equip them to face life's challenges in a constructive manner.

The role of parents in shaping adolescent character is crucial and irreplaceable. By providing full attention, affection, and consistent guidance, parents can help adolescents grow into self-confident, responsible, and emotionally mature individuals. Conversely, without parental involvement, adolescents risk losing direction and becoming more easily influenced by negative forces. Therefore, it is essential for parents to be actively present in their children's lives, especially during adolescence, to create a better generation in the future.
