Background Coral reefs are the important ecosystem in marine life. Degradation of the coral reefs is threatened the balance of marine life and marine livelihood that will affect the fisherman and consumer. According to the research by Coremap LIPI and LAPAN in 2008 show that, 5% of the coral reefs are categorized very good, 25% is good, and 30% is medium, and 31,5% is damaged. Umang Resort Island in collaboration with Indonesia Global Compact Network calls our concern in saving the coral reefs. This activity cannot be done by alone, but must be together, start from ourselves then in surrounded Umang Island, and bigger community. This action needs encourage from ourselves and involve more people. Coral Reefs Ambassador Competition 2013/2014 will give change to young generations challenging their capability to save coral reefs. The organizers This competition is held by Indonesia Global Compact Network or IGCN which under United Nation Global Compact (UNGC), operate companies that volunteering joint their effort to harmonize in business and strategy in collaboration with ten universal principal in human rights, employment, environment, and anti-corruption and take an action to support UN objectives, including Millenium Development Goals and supported by the leaders. UNGC is also a platform of leadership in developing, implementing, and policy disclosure in responsible company practices. Launched in 2000, UNGC is the biggest responsible company initiative all over the world with more than 8.000 signatures for more than 135 countries. Male and female, high school and University student enrolled located in Jakarta, Bogor, Tanggerang, Bekasi, Banten (joining this competition means representative of university and school) How to join? Eligibility for entry: 1. Complete registration form 2. Enclose curriculum vitae 3. Photo (full body) 4. Able to swim (have experience in swimming and snorkeling) 5. Endorsement letter by university/faculty/school 6. Agree to participate the training program (Coral Reefs Ambassador Camp in Umang Island and related training program held by committee). 7. Agree to work and participate under Program Directory. 8. Registration form sent to onemillioncorals@matoa.org. 9. Enclose update transcript (min GPA 3,00) Judging and Selection 1. All application from all finalist candidate should reach IGCN by October 16, 2013 (registration will be closed if participant quota has complete) 2. participant will be invited to join Technical Meeting held by committee by October 16, 2013 in University PPM. 3. All charges for travel and accommodation of participant during Coral Reef Ambassador Camp will be shouldered by committee. 4. Participant will join related training program (capacity building) as coral reef ambassador once a week for two months (November – December 2013). 5. Participant have to demonstrate coral reefs campaign in both institute and public area include Umang Island. 6. Participant should implement their program planning for 1 year and submit progress monthly in the period. 7. Selected activity report will be published in Matoa Albarits and Umang Resort Island website, and Coral Reef Center in Umang Island, Ujung Kulon.
