2 Ways to Make You Work Better

We are interested in finding a new food material that can be a solution to one of the health problems being faced in Indonesia, namely Diabetes. Many food products derived from processed starch cannot be consumed by diabetics and we are interested in finding a new food material that can be beneficial for treating diabetes. Therefore, we decided to conduct a systematic review that aims to investigate the antidiabetic property of white and black sorghum-based processed products. From this research objective, we learned that some processed starch may have positive impacts on human health.

An outline helps us to plan the structure and organization of the overall systematic review in the field of antidiabetic properties of white and black sorghum flour. Our research started with introducing white and black sorghum flour which correlated with anti-diabetic properties. The methods used to investigate the antidiabetic effect of white and black sorghum are typically involved in vivo animal and in vitro chemistry-based studies. We evaluate and discuss each literature finding that discusses these methods so that the results align with our research objectives. In addition, we also identified areas that needed to be clarified or strengthened with additional analysis. Our systematic review concluded with findings and recommendations on the antidiabetic effects of white and black sorghum flour for health. Overall, writing an outline for a systematic review of the antidiabetic effects of white and black sorghum flour helped us to structure the study, plan the literature search, organize the findings, and produce an informative and relevant conclusion.

In writing a systematic review, searching for literature or studies related to our paper is essential. We conducted the literature search using various databases and keywords. Some examples of databases we use include PubMed, Scopus, and EBSCOhost. We also used several keywords to narrow the literature search, such as antidiabetic, white sorghum, and black sorghum. Beforehand, we had negotiated and determined what databases and criteria could be used for our paper in the outline section. This step was aimed to simplify the search for appropriate literature among group members. Through this literature search, we were able to familiarize ourselves and practice skills in using specific databases to obtain relevant literature. We learned a lot and improved our critical thinking skills in selecting research or literature that we could use as references in our studies. Although the literature search took quite a lot of time and made us feel overwhelmed, all members of our group could work together and help each other in the literature search. Overall, the literature search for our systematic review has run smoothly and we are satisfied with our results.

This task is fairly divided into some parts and divided randomly using a ladder shuffle. Whereas for the reading task, we are sharing files from Zotero apps by connecting the folder maker email with other members. We agreed to insert the journals we have read into Zotero's group folder to ensure that no one chooses the same reading with the aim that our research will be broader and deeper. From there, we can see which journals have been read by other members. Making the systematic review that focused on discussing antidiabetics in sorghum has given us a lot of new insights and experiences in researching and exploring more about the anti-diabetic properties of white and black sorghum. Although no one is familiar with writing scientific research, we really enjoyed this task because we could have a group discussion and explore our topic together, so every group member was really active and participated in the process of making this systematic review, which made the team work well. By choosing the topic, we believe we can give the reader new insights about the antidiabetic properties contained in sorghum.

Our group shared tasks equally by dividing each assignment into subcomponents. Then, each group member worked on a subcomponent part determined by a shuffle. We also have an online discussion group to discuss the progress during the work. Especially for ASG 3 and 4, we set a target of 5 journals to be abstracted from the databases for each group member, so all group members participated in the systematic review creation. Our group had its ups and downs while working on the assignment, but it felt joyful and relieving. Even though each group member had their own activities and roles outside the assignments, we reminded each other so that each group member could finish their part on time. We also supported each other and solved problems that arose together so that our tasks could be completed properly. From doing the assignments, we have learned that doing a big project is easier to perform if we do it step by step. Although we did not have any experience in writing journals beforehand, we learned that every step we took while doing the systematic review was a progress in improving our writing skills. Besides, we realized that having the same goal and understanding the assignments are essential to avoid miscommunication in the group. We also learned that teamwork is a powerful tool for completing complicated tasks. By doing assignments in a group, the workload is divided between members, thus making it easier and faster to complete. In addition, communicating problems and difficulties to the team is crucial so that they can be resolved together and not delay the progress of the work.
