Kalimantan is one of the largest islands in Indonesia which has an area of about 743,330 km² and a large population of around , Kalimantan is divided into provinces, namely South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, and South Kalimantan.

The island of Borneo has many characteristics and unique places that not many people know, here I will introduce some unique places and things in South Kalimantan.

1. pulau kembang
The Flower Island area is about 1.5 km from Banjarmasin City and can be reached by using a rented klotok boat. It takes about 15 minutes to cross from the pier, visitors will be immediately greeted by agile and very aggressive monkeys. The fee for entering the Flower Island is subject to a tariff of 5,000 rupiah / person.

Inside this tourist forest area, there is an altar designated as a place to put offerings for the "guardian" of the Flower Island which is symbolized by two statues in the form of a white monkey (Hanoman), by the Chinese-Indonesian ethnic community who have certain vows or vows. A male goat whose horns are covered with gold is usually released into the forest on the island of Kembang when a request is successful or is granted.

2. nasi kuning masak habang
Nasi masak habang is rice that is yellow in color and gives a chili sauce made from long chilies which is mashed with the secret spices typical of South Kalimantan.

3. The proboscis monkey is the identity fauna of the province of South Kalimantan. [note 1] This animal is known by various names, for example proboscis monkey or long-nosed monkey in English, proboscis monkey in Malaysian, bangkatan for Brunei, while local residents also call it Dutch monkey or the dutch monkey, pika, bahara stretch, raseng, and kahau.[2][3] Proboscis monkeys are a type of mammal that is protected from the threat of extinction due to forest land conversion and habitat degradation. Based on this, proboscis monkeys are included in the endangered status (Endangered) on the IUCN red list.

4. Loksado is a sub-district in Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency where the well-preserved indigenous Dayak culture meets stunning natural scenery. This area is a lush area dotted with beautiful waterfalls, swift rivers, and fascinating indigenous culture. 

This part of Kalimantan is home to the indigenous Meratus Dayak tribe - a sub-ethnic group of Dayaks in Kalimantan who occupy traditional houses called Bala

The most remarkable feature of Loksado's natural wealth is the Amandit River which spans some of the most attractive landscapes in the area. The meandering river with fresh clear water dotted with rocks and creeks and the unique traditional bridge overlooking the lush green hills of Meratus is certainly a sight rarely found anywhere else.

Those are some of the characteristics possessed by the island of South Kalimantan, then go on vacation to South Kalimantan because, you will find such a  new good things in South Kalimantan.
