5. Clause

A clause in grammar is a group of words that has a subject and a predicate, and can stand alone as a complete sentence. There are two types of clauses, namely main clauses (main sentences) and subordinate clauses (child sentences).

for example :

  • Main clause: "I like eating ice cream."                           Subordinate clause: "When the weather is hot."
  • Main clause: "They went to the beach."                        Subordinate clause: "After they finished work."
  • Main clause: "He studied for the exam."                       Subordinate clause: "Even though he felt tired."
  • Main clause: "The cat sleeps under the table."           Subordinate clause: "When the owner goes to work."
  • Main clause: "We are going to the movies."                 Subordinate clause: "After we have dinner."

6.Sentence

Sentences are units of language made up of words arranged in an orderly manner to convey meaning. They are used to express statements, questions, or command

Here are examples of sentence sentences :

  • Statements (.)

  • please close the window !
  • please make me a report!

7.Tenses

Tenses in grammar refer to verb forms used to indicate time in a language. They help us convey information about when an event occurred. There are several commonly used tenses, such as Present Tense, Past Tense, and Future Tense. Each tense has different rules and verb patterns. Tenses are very important in constructing clear and structured sentences.

The following are examples of sentences with various tenses:

  • Present Tense:
  • I eat breakfast every morning. (Saya sarapan setiap pagi.)
  • She works at a hospital. (Dia bekerja di rumah sakit.)
  • They play soccer every weekend. (Mereka bermain sepak bola setiap akhir pekan.)
  • Past Tense:
  • He watched a movie last night. (Dia menonton film semalam.)
  • We traveled to Bali for our vacation. (Kami pergi ke Bali untuk liburan kami.)
  • The concert started at 8 PM. (Konser dimulai pukul 8 malam.)
  • Future Tense:
  • I will visit my grandparents next week. (Saya akan mengunjungi kakek nenek saya minggu depan.)
  • They are going to have a party tomorrow. (Mereka akan mengadakan pesta besok.)
  • She will finish her project by the end of the month. (Dia akan menyelesaikan proyeknya menjelang akhir bulan.)
