The free market with the frame of ASEAN Economic Community will start rolling in 2015. The extent to which Indonesia 's readiness to deal with it ? ASEAN has outstanding advantages. Firstly, ASEAN has 600 million inhabitants. Then ASEAN also has an incredible diversity, has a mega such as Singapore, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, and its inhabitants are very rich. But on the other hand, ASEAN also has Laos, Myanmar. Well…, this range is so diverse that make the market become more widespread, not just in number but also has a breadth of products that can be sold.

The second, is the strength of this region is the region with the second highest growth rate after China. So the coupled with ASEAN has good production base with the condition of Chinese who are experiencing problems about labor and wages, ASEAN could become the basis of investment and production. Under these conditions, I believe that ASEAN has advantages compared with other regions. Although this only applies to the capitalist class.

Idealism of the MEA is not just a trade between countries but make ASEAN a production base to supply the world market. “The farmers live in uncomfortable conditions”, So where opportunity of Indonesia ? It is a paradox with a lot of exposure, both academics and government elite, who saw that Indonesia had to face an external enemy in the form of agricultural products from other ASEAN countries. Such exposures forget one important thing; Could we face the rice Thailand and Vietnam when farmers in this country even more lost their access to land !!?? And then, How about the position of Indonesia as an agricultural country ? Indonesian farmers conditions today, in various regions, is quite alarming. BPS data in 2013 mentioned that there is a decrease in the number of households of farmers from the amount of 31,17 million in 2003 to 26,04 million in 2013. However, on the contrary, there is an increasing number of agricultural companies of 4086 the company became 5011 companies in 2013. So amazing !!!

Meanwhile, the amount of productive land in Indonesia is also declining every year. The amount of land currently about 13 million hectares, according to Minister of Agriculture (2013), there are 100 thousand over the land that occur each year, causing agricultural land also erode. Rather it is the function of one trigger that causes some groups of farmers in the resistance. Data from the Agrarian Reform Consortium (KPA) said that in 2011, there were 106 cases of Agrarian Conflict. In 2012 the number increased drastically to 163 cases. And then, in 2013 there were 198 cases documented by the KPA. Of these, 156 farmers have been arrested, 55 people were injured and mistreatment, 25 peasants were shot and recorded 3 people killed in agrarian conflicts.

The meaning, it appears that the problem of farmers today is closely related to the land. We may not speak of food sovereignty without taking part in discussing the land. Paradoxically, the development and industrialization makes farmers have to give up their land. If farmers persist with their demands to continue to farm, no longer a threat faced productivity or yields further down, but also batons. The last years, the ASEAN Economic Community officially opened. So the discussion about the independence of farmers and the land is important to be discussed and taken seriously. For more than a problem later on Indonesian rice whether it can compete with the rice farmer from Thailand or Vietnam. Because it is clear on paper, without land, our farmers have lost even before the MEA whistle sounded. We will not be able to talk about agricultural products without being planted. Without guarantees and subsidies from the state, of the low quality of our agricultural products will not be able to compete with any country. Finally clear; our society from all walks of consumption will rely instead on domestic production, but on the imported products that should be our production.

ASEAN Economic Community (MEA) has a tendency to pivot on the industries and the exclusion of those who live from natural products. This is further exacerbated by the fact that the ASEAN Human Rights Declaration, the points on the rights of farmers in the development have not been included. That is, the rights of farmers in a very vulnerable MEA related to regional integration projects are being initiated.

Industrialization projects, either under the guise MP3EI and RIPIN (National Industrial Development Master Plan) recently passed for the years 2015 to 2035, it is necessary to consider the rights of farmers particularly about the land and the fate of the farmers. One of the things that concern is extractive industry projects that in many cases, are not transparent, nor pay attention to adverse effects for farmers. The variable impact on agriculture is rarely a consideration of the government in providing mining permit, it is time for these variables become one of the items that need to be considered for the industry.

“There is big opportunity market out there”, shrinking land area and the threat of capital expansion industrialists, farmers are forced to face two difficult choices: stick with agricultural productivity continues to decline or sell the land to the owners of capital. In Indonesia, the implication is divided into two: (1) Farmers must be willing to lose ground and become 'farmhand' or farmer working the fields of others, and consequently living wage or (2) Work to the city to make a living, well into the urban poor or factory workers.
