GAP Exchange is a national project of CIMSA and be held by MMSA (Muhammadiyah Medical Students' Activities), is a research exchange program, the theme is endemic disease, the main topic is leptospirosis. GAP Exchange in this year will be held in two places, there are UMY and UNAIR. The event will be attended by participants from international medical students. GAP Exchange will be held on 1st to 30th September 2015 at the Fakultas Kedokteran dan Ilmu Kesehatan (FKIK) UMY by its theme Study of Epidemiology, Risk Factors, and Early Detection of Leptospirosis.

Leptospirosis is a disease caused by bacteria that infect many types of animals, including amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals. WHO gives special attention to leptospirosis because the current prevalence is still high in many areas and can cause sudden death (acute disease). Student and health professionals' competence about the problem of leptospirosis in tropical and developing countries has become an obligation, that medical students should understand to assist the sixth point of the MDG's, there are the fight against HIV / AIDS, malaria and other infectious diseases. It is also intended to deal with globalization, which is every medical students are required to have a global perspective that is not only focused on health issues in their respective countries.

On GAP Exchange 2015, there are several kinds of activities among community-based, campus-based and non-educational program. Community-based activities consist of Hospital and Community Health Center Visit aimed to show directly the condition of the disease leptospirosis in Yogyakarta and its surroundings especially endemic areas; and Village Visit aiming for sampling and observation of leptospirosis disease risk factors. Samples obtained will be identified on laboratory activities. For campus-based activities consist of tutorials, lectures, small working groups and preparing reports. In the non-educational program has activities such as Welcoming Party, Farewell Party, Optional session to facilitate participants learn one Indonesian culture, and social program where participants are invited to tour the place with the aim of introducing attractions in Yogyakarta and surrounding areas.
