“Solitude”
Snowflakes scatter along the meadow;
a black raven soars through pastel blue,
like a pebble adrift in an endless sea,
embraced in flecks of snow.
Feet scurry across a scarlet leaf bed,
piled across patches of wilted flowers.
I watch as a golden maple drizzles
into the midst of entwining red.
Leaves are carried in the breeze
to an empty coffee bench,
hidden by cherry branches
and dipping frosty trees.
The meadow’s wind settles,
and a periwinkle stands tall;
lavender blinds my eyes
among brown wilted petals.
A silhouette lies nearby;
dreams are interwoven
into a plum colored quilt
blanketed across the sky.
I am nestled beneath a pecan tree.
My fingertips brush guitar strings;
I hum to emptiness in the meadow.
My world can breathe, I’ve set it free.
