During the Covid-19 pandemic, one of the things that can be done to reduce the spread of the Covid-19 virus is by requiring students and lecturers to carry out learning and teaching activities from home by online system or often called "e-learning", as well as  STAMI students and lecturers who are required to carry out lectures by online system.

Although this online lecture is carried out to minimize the potential spread of the Covid-19 virus, in conducting online lectures, many advantages and disadvantages can be felt by the students and lecturers.  Some of the advantages that can be felt are the flexibility in conducting lectures wherever and whenever, lecture material can be stored easily.  Behind these advantages more deficiencies can be felt, such as relying on the internet so that if the internet network is slow or does not get a signal, the lecture process will be disrupted, especially when conducting online exams, the material delivered is not optimal, many lecturers are overwhelmed in  use the application to teach so they have to spend more time to learning how to use the application, the many costs incurred to access the internet and much more.

So does the case with online lectures in English at STAMI, many obstacles can be felt.  For some students there are those who feel that online lectures are more effective than face-to-face lectures and some feel they are not.  This lecture feels more like an online assignment than an online lecture, because many lecturers give assignments instead of explaining the material so that many students just do the assignment without understanding the material given.  This English lecture material cannot only be limited to material but there must also be a discussion to better understand the material.

Of all the advantages and disadvantages above, it can be seen that each of the types of lectures conducted both online and face to face have their pluses and minuses.  With this online lecture we can make learning material to improve the online lecture system even better.  Although lectures are not done face-to-face, it does not rule out the possibility for students to get an interactive experience. Communication between lecturers and students remains the main key to carry forward this online lecture process.
