Eric Arthur Blair, known by his pen name George Orwell, was a British writer who was born on 25 June 1903 and passed away on 21 January 1950. He was a novelist, poet, essayist, journalist, and critic, with his pen name being influenced by River Orwell. Orwell's writing is known for its clear style, criticism of society, opposition to totalitarianism in all forms, and advocacy for democratic socialism.

 Orwell's most famous works include the allegorical novella Animal Farm (1945) and the dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four (1949), but he also wrote literary criticism, poetry, fiction, and polemical journalism. 

His non-fiction publications, such as The Road to Wigan Pier (1937) and Homage to Catalonia (1938), widely praised for documenting his experiences in working-class life in northern England and soldiering for the Republican faction in the Spanish Civil War, are highly esteemed like his essays on politics, literature, language, and culture.

Animal Farm by George Orwell is a satirical novella published in England on 17 August 1945. It is a beast fable that tells the story of farm animals rebelling against their human farmer to create a society of equality, freedom, and happiness. In the end, the uprising is backstabbed, leading to a farm under the rule of a pig called Napoleon that is in a more terrible condition than ever before. This allegorical novella is among Orwell's best-known works. 

It examines the Russian Revolution and the emergence of Stalinism in the form of a farm where animals revolt against their human owner, but eventually come under the control of their own species. The novella is appreciated for its cutting satire and its examination of power and corruption.

Nineteen Eighty-Four (also known as 1984) is a dystopian book and warning story written by George Orwell, an English author. Orwell's ninth and last book finished before he died was released on 8 June 1949 by Secker & Warburg. Thematically, it focuses on the impact of totalitarianism, mass surveillance, and oppressive control of individuals and their actions in society. Orwell, a strong supporter of democratic socialism and opponent of Stalinism, depicted authoritarian socialism in Britain in the novel, drawing parallels with the Soviet Union during Stalin's reign and the censorship and propaganda seen in Nazi Germany. Homage to Catalonia is a memoir written by English author George Orwell in 1938, which details his personal experiences and observations during his time fighting in the Spanish Civil War. During the time from December 1936 to June 1937, Orwell describes the revolutionary enthusiasm in Catalonia while training in Barcelona, his boredom during combat in Aragon, his participation in the internal conflict of May Days in Barcelona while on a break, his injury to the throat during combat, and his flee to France after the ban of POUM. The conflict greatly influenced his political beliefs and played a key role in inspiring his statement in 1946 about his work being aimed at opposing totalitarianism and supporting democratic socialism.
