He is going around in residential area for lower classes in town with his pulling-cart to sell several bowls of meatballs. We call him “Tukang Baso” (serving up meatball handyman?)

His activity begins early in the morning with purchase of low-quality meat; mince it, mixed it with salt and flour, forming a circle then steam it. After cooked, he put all meatballs on a display and ready for sale. So he began to sell meatballs which will be presented with a piece of “sawi hijau” (maybe it’s a kind of green local lettuce), fried onions, sauce and noodles.

Tukang baso is one example of many people in Indonesia who do not have adequate academic abilities, which have left their homeland to seek additional income. Their goal is usually the big cities.

But his luck has not changed. A big city is so cruel. Those who do not pass the selection will be forced to survive in a way which is not a primary option. Not in any way as cool as they ever dreamt before they decided to live in large cities.

However, Tukang Baso is an example of people who try to keep up with life in the right direction. Some of the other people choose different ways to become rich faster, therefore, not with a very good way, as thieves, robbers, thieves and beggars. They do this not only to meet the needs of their life, but also to pursue lifestyles in the metropolis. Consumptive life has become a new style in our country. They forgot that the natural resources of our country are the true wealth.

It is one of several unpleasant facts about my country, Indonesia.

I love my country, and have many hopes for improvement, still.

Back to topic about Tukang Baso..

Just feel free to finding out (or not) of his meatballs’ taste. Feel free to decide if your stomach capable to accept it or not.

For me personally, I love the taste. :D
