Two of Ilana Tan's Mega Bestseller Novels Will Get Movie Adaptation After 5 Years

On Wednesday, June 8th, 2022, all book lovers especially fans of Ilana Tan’s writings were shocked by a post on the @unlimited_production Instagram page which stated that they are preparing an adaptation of Ilana Tan’s tetralogy novel series, not only one but two titles at once which is Autumn In Paris and Spring In London.

Unlimited Production is a Jakarta-based film production house that five years ago was also responsible for working on Winter In Tokyo, the third novel in the four-season tetralogy by Ilana Tan.

This romance-drama directed by Fajar Bustomi stars Pamela Bowie as Ishida Keiko and Dion Wiyoko as Nishimura Kazuto, the main character in the Winter In Tokyo novel. Ishida Keiko’s character itself is told to have a sister named Naomi Ishida who is the main character in the Spring In London novel. One of the unique traits of this tetralogy series is the relationship between the characters in each novel.

The response from fans is very diverse when hearing this latest news. Many of them are very excited and can't wait to see the adaptation of their favorite novel. Not a few also expressed their concerns regarding this news, especially about the selection of suitable actors and actresses to play the main characters of the two books because of the background of the characters in the novel who are Indonesian-Korean and Indonesian-French mulatto. Of course, fans not only want actors who fit the physical trait but also actors who can portray the characters well.

Until now there is still no further notice on who will play the main character in these two novels.
