Create An Education that Diverse Needs of Students with Integration of Diferentiated Learning and TaRL

In modern education, ensuring that all students receive the learning experience they need has become a central focus. Differentiated learning is one such innovative approach that adjusts teaching methods based on students' competencies, interests, and learning styles. A promising enhancement to this method is the integration of Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL), which focuses on teaching students according to their current levels of understanding.

To establish effective differentiated learning, there are many essential steps educators can follow, as outlined in the guide to differentiated learning. These include:

1. Student Profiling
   Teachers begin by assessing students' intellectual, social, and psychomotor abilities. Understanding students' interests and learning needs forms the foundation for a personalized teaching approach.
2. Flexible Grouping
   Students are grouped based on their abilities and learning needs, ensuring that each group receives instruction suited to their level of understanding.
3. Providing Choices
   Differentiated learning empowers students to choose how they learn or present their assignments, whether through writing, videos, or illustrations, fostering greater engagement.
4. Using Varied Teaching Media
   Teaching materials are presented through diverse media, such as videos, illustrations, simulations, and discussions, catering to visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners.
5. Tailored Practice Assignments
   Practice tasks are customized to align with students' proficiency levels, ensuring that all learners progress at their own pace.

Differentiated learning can be effectively implemented by following structured steps that incorporate the principles of Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL). To achieve this, educators can focus on the following key stages as an example

1. Initial Assessments for Mapping Students
   Diagnostic assessments, both cognitive and non-cognitive, are conducted to evaluate students' prior knowledge and preferred learning styles. This information helps teachers map out learning strategies and group students effectively.
2. Group-Based Instruction
   Students are divided into three categories. Advanced (Capable) are the students with high levels of understanding. Intermediate (Developing) are the students with moderate comprehension. Beginner (Emerging) are the students requiring more guidance.  Each group receives differentiated worksheets (LKPD) designed to match their level, with advanced groups tackling complex tasks and beginners receiving more guided instructions.

1. Differentiation in Process, Content, and Products
   • Process: Lessons are delivered using diverse media, such as videos, discussions, and hands-on activities, catering to different learning styles.
   • Content: Tailoring the complexity of learning materials based on students’ abilities, readiness, and needs. Advanced learners receive challenging tasks, intermediate learners are given standard materials with support, and beginners are provided with foundational content and guided instructions. This ensures all students can engage with material suited to their level.
   • Products: Students have the flexibility to present their work in various formats, such as posters, videos, or live presentations, encouraging creativity and self-expression.
2. Contextual Learning with Local Relevance
   Real-world examples are used to make abstract mathematical concepts relatable and engaging.
3. Guided Support with TaRL Principles
   Teachers provide varying levels of guidance depending on students' needs. Beginner groups receive detailed, hands-on support through scaffolding, while advanced groups work more independently, reinforcing their problem-solving skills.

The combination of differentiated learning and TaRL in this lesson plan has shown remarkable benefits such as it can increased student engagement, because students are more motivated as tasks are aligned with their interests and abilities.
