Boncah Tangkuluak Tanduak

In a remote village at the foot of hill Tapa, lived a beautiful girl named Dara. Dara was the only child of Pak Sutan and Bu Rina. Dara's presence graced their home with immeasurable happiness.

She was treated like a little queen, her every wish fulfilled by her parents. However, the excess of luxury and affection made Dara a spoiled and arrogant child. She always demanded her wishes be met without considering her parents' efforts. Dara often refused her mother's advice and considered herself wiser than her parents.

Dara owned a Tangkuluak Tanduak, a traditional Minangkabau hat shaped like a buffalo horn. The hat was a gift from her grandmother, believed to have special powers. Dara cherished the Tangkuluak Tanduak and always wore it wherever she went.

One afternoon, Bu Rina forbade Dara from playing in the forest. "Dara, don't play in the forest. It's dangerous. There are many wild animals roaming around," said Bu Rina. "Mother, I'm not afraid. I'll be careful," Dara replied arrogantly.

She insisted on playing in the forest, wanting to show her courage. Bu Rina tried to stop Dara, but Dara had already run towards the forest. Bu Rina could only watch as Dara disappeared from sight. She prayed for Dara's safety and that nothing bad would happen. Dara walked and sang in the forest.

She was captivated by the beauty of nature that enveloped the forest. Finally, she found a clear pool hidden among the large trees. "Wow, the water is so clear. I want to play in the water," said Dara. She immediately took off her shoes and jumped into the pool. Dara played in the water with joy. She swam and dived in the pool. However, Dara was too engrossed in playing.

She didn't realize that the pool was getting deeper in the middle. Dara tried to swim to the edge, but she was too far. Dara was trapped in the middle of the pool. She screamed for help, but her voice couldn't be heard by anyone. Bu Rina, who was waiting for Dara at home, felt uneasy. She had a bad feeling about Dara. She ran to the forest, searching for Dara.

Finally, Bu Rina found the pool. She saw Dara drowning in the middle of the pool. Bu Rina screamed in fear and tried to save Dara.Bu Rina jumped into the pool. She swam as hard as she could towards Dara. However, the water in the pool was too deep. Bu Rina couldn't reach Dara.

Bu Rina cried her heart out. She regretted Dara's disobedience and her inability to save Dara. Her tears flowed endlessly, soaking the pool. Dara was never found again. Only her Tangkuluak Tanduak remained on the surface of the pool.

The pool was then known as Boncah Tangkuluak Tanduak, a place that tells the tale of arrogance and regret, of a girl who drowned in her arrogance and disobedience.
