The book entitled woman at point zero, tells the story of a woman named Firdaus. At the beginning of the story we will be presented with the point of view of a doctor, psychiatrist who has the task of conducting research on women who are in prison as material for his writing. Firdaus, the name belongs to a female prisoner who was sentenced to death. He was imprisoned in a cramped detention room with a small window for guards to occasionally check on him. Amazingly, he refused all kinds of assistance in the form of applications for commutation, assistance from lawyers and even pardon from a king/president. Firdaus also refused all visits, including this doctor's visit, filled with annoyance, the doctor left. Unexpectedly, Firdaus finally allowed the doctor to come in, and Firdaus' life journey began until the story that led him to sit in this prison cell while waiting for his death.
This book was written by Nawal el saadawi[1] is an Egyptian feminist writer, activist, doctor and psychiatrist. She has written many books on women's issues in Islam, paying special attention to the practice of female genital mutilation in her society. She has been described as "the Simone de Beauvoir of the Arab World". Even when this book was finally printed, there was a lot of criticism from Egyptian society. His book sharply describes the life of a Firdaus under the auspices of extremist patriarchy which still exists and is also real in nature.
