DEPOK -- From unofficial ta'lim to an official institution called Hija Centre Indonesia, it has transformed a drug-infested area into one that benefits the community. Students enjoy all the activities and participate in events with other participants, the event was called UHAMKA's Public Speaking Training  Event for Santri Kampung Hija on July 6th, 2024 in Sawangan, Depok, West Java.
Kampung Hija is located in the Sawangan region of Depok, West Java, has gone through major changes since its establishment. Previously known as Gang 6, this community was a drug area with a high rate of drug abuse. However, because to Kang Asep's effort and the support of the local community, this region was turned into a center for religious and social education known as Kampung Hija, derived from the Arabic word "hija" which means spelling.
The Kementrian Hukum dan HAM (Kemenkumham) launched Kampung Hija as the Hija Center Indonesia (HCI) on October 26, 2022. This launch symbolizes the community's dedication to eliminating illiteracy in reading the Qur'an and altering the public's impression of this village from a drug-infested area to a productive environment based on Islamic law and values. Kampung Hija's Qur'an reading performance approach promoted principles of justice, peace, and cleanliness in society.
Kampung Hija analyzes the performance of its work plan by assessing its beneficial impact on people. Within terms of comfort, stability, security, and moral development among students. The success of the work plan may be seen in the positive culture that has developed in the Kampung Hija community. Collaboration with external parties is accomplished by seeking partners who share the same vision, objective, and perspective. Kang Asep always follows three guidelines while filtering external parties: "Is it good?", "Is it necessary?", and "Is it polite?"Â
Fadel, a Kampung Hija student, was pleased to learn something new from UHAMKA students and lecturers. The public speaking training significantly enhanced students' public speaking skill, particularly in English. Fadel feels more prepared to use expressions when speaking and plans to utilize what he has learned in everyday life. This is crucial for Fadel, who will be pursuing higher education in the future.Â
Kang Asep, the Founder of Kampung Hija, Mr. Silih, the Head of the English  Education Department Study Program at FKIP UHAMKA, the heads of the local neighbourhoods, community leaders in the surrounding area, and Kampung Hija students all attended this training event on Saturday, July 6, 2024. This activity took place at the Hija Center Indonesia (HCI) and was a one-month collaboration between Kampung Hija and UHAMKA's English Education Department.
Kampung Hija displays helpful community change by providing comprehensive religious education while also establishing values such as justice, peace, and cleanliness. Hopefully, an ethical culture will arise, positive symbols will emerge, and Allah's law will be respected resulting in the birth of a greater generation.
