The use of weak isolates for cross-protection has proven effective in controlling Begomovirus with an environmentally friendly approach. Besides providing protection against stronger viruses, this strategy reduces reliance on chemical pesticides, thus supporting sustainable agricultural practices. With further development, cross-protection can become an essential component in sustainable plant disease management, strengthening food security and maintaining ecosystem balance.
