I've been noticing a lots of old timer HIV activists actually talk about U=U with doubt.
In many forums they would talk about U=U that being Undetectable means Untransmittable, but always by adding "even though it's not 100% prevent HIV transmission" "you still have to use condoms to prevent HIV transmission because VL is not always Undetectable even though on good ARV adherence"
At first I couldn't find the reason why would someone deny U=U even though I write lots of U=U articles in local language with original references in HIV positive communities.
Then looking up their background of their disbelief to U=U, they reveal their life experience and story that once they were resistance to first line ART because of the adherence. Most of them work as peer support addressing adherence all the time, but I knew how they apply adherence in their real life. Viral Load test will tell the whole thing about adherence, one can not deny or lie once they got their viral load test not well suppressed.
Of course they wouldn't admit their bad adherence because they're the one addressing adherence everyday to their peers, they just mentioned "I've been taking my ART everyday and my VL is still detectable......"
I did some assessment to these statements that what they think of good adherence by taking ARV every day is not always at the same time, some skip for hours.
Some even don't know about Blips, so they will blame condomless sex  as the trigger of their Viral Load raise, while their Viral Load were Undetectable.
They still believe (even some medical practitioners) that the gold standard of being Untransmittable is real Undetectable, not being suppresed under 200 copies . Some patients got anxiety because their viral load would never reach Undetectable, some reach 60 copies, and they still being told that it is not good enough.
 So when they (as a peer support) got their viral load test results not Undetectable, they will start making statement that U=U is not always working for everyone, condomless sex will trigger the raise of Viral Load..... because this what they experience them self......
They used to scare their peers that if they're not applying good adherence of ART their HIV will resistant to first line ART regiments and has to be changed with second line regimens.
And this is what happened to them......so their life experience, their lack of information will be their tools to deny U=U, they wouldn't look at other PLHIV who could maintain their VL Undetectable for years. And just because they've old timer HIV survivor they become influencers......
