The Orlando Magic managed to beat the Dallas Mavericks 110-105 in a series of pre-season games for the 2022-23 NBA at the American Airlines Center, Texas, Friday local time (Saturday WIB).
But the win came at the cost of added worry for the Magic after losing guard Jalen Suggs to an injury in the first quarter of the match.
Suggs collapsed after making a screen move against Mavericks forward Dorian Finney-Smith, before having to be carried by the medical team to the locker room.
The official Magic channel later confirmed that Suggs has suffered an injury to the bottom of his left foot and will be ruled out of the remainder of the game against the Mavericks.
The Magic started the game poorly and were 21 points behind the Mavericks, but then managed to slowly turn things around to win 110-105.
The first-choice player in the 2022 NBA Draft, Paolo Banchero, was the best performer in the Magic's victory with 19 points and five rebounds after 21 minutes on the floor.
Terrence Ross added 16 points, Mo Bamba scored 13 and Cole Anthony had 12 points for the Magic.
For the Mavericks, Christian Wood scored 23 points after 19 minutes and Luka Doncic, who appeared 17 minutes, had 16 points, five assists and three rebounds.
It was the Magic's second win in three pre-season games, having previously lost 97-109 to the Memphis Grizzlies and beat the San Antonio Spurs 102-99.
Meanwhile, the Mavericks suffered their first defeat in pre-season, having previously beaten the Oklahoma City Thunder 98-96.
