Bogor—On June 3, 2022, the city of Bogor will be 540 years old. After 2 years of the pandemic, the Bogor City Anniversary celebration event had to be abolished, but now the situation is different. Residents of Bogor City, with high enthusiasm, are ready to welcome the festive series of events celebrating the anniversary of the City of Bogor. The Bogor City Government has prepared a series of events to enliven the Bogor City Anniversary. The series of events starts on June 1 and ends on July 9, 2022. One of the events that has just been carried out is the Surken Fest 2022 event, which was held at Suryakencana Street on the 11th of June 2022.
Surken Fest 2022 takes place from 16.00–24.00 WIB. This event is part of a series of events to commemorate the 540th anniversary of Bogor. This event has attracted the attention of the people of Bogor. Even before the event began, thousands of people had packed the area. Surken Fest 2022 also looks more crowded when the lion dance performs an attraction to welcome the Mayor of Bogor, Bima Arya Sugianto. Bima Arya himself was present at around 17.00 WIB, he walked from Lawang Surya Kencana to Hotel 101 while greeting residents who visited the event.
In addition to the lion dance attraction, the Surken Fest 2022 event is also filled with cultural arts festivals, a bazaar for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and Bogor culinary specialties. Surken Fest 2022 was opened by giving awards and appreciation to figures who have given their dedication in the fields of environmental economics, education, and health, as well as special awards for exemplary environmental conservation figures in the inspirational local figures competition. The Bogor City Government also closed Suryakencana Street in connection with the Surken Fest event. The Department of Transportation and the police also sterilize at several points of the road so that no vehicles are parked carelessly. This is to prevent chaos that can lead to traffic jams around the area.
