To make Karawang part of the government of the Mataram Kingdom, on 14 September 1633 or to coincide with 10 Maulud 1043 Hijriah, Sultan Agung appointed Singaperbangsa as the first Regent of Karawang. This aims to facilitate communication between regions under the Mataram Kingdom. The day Singaperbangsa was established later became a day of remembrance as the current Karawang Regency Anniversary.
